Biography:
Barbara K. Case was born, in Erlangen, Germany in 1974, where her father was stationed for the U.S. Army. Barbara grew up in Central Florida, where she attended the University of South Florida. While obtaining her Bachelor of the Arts Degree, Barbara worked as a full time Workers’ Compensation Adjuster, graduating in 1997. After college, Barbara relocated to Miami, where she attended St. Thomas University, School of Law. While in Law School, Barbara served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association. She participated on the Moot Court and the Peter T. Fay Inns of Court; and was a member F.A.W.L (Florida Association of Women Lawyers). Additionally, Barbara was certified Intern with the Broward County Public Defenders Office, Juvenile Division.
Since graduation, Barbara has focused her practice in the areas of Workers' Compensation Defense, Appeals and Liability Defense. Ms. Case has argued before the 1st and 3rd District Courts of Appeal. She is a current member of the Workers' Compensation section and the Appellate Section of the Florida Bar. She is also a member of the Dade County Bar Association, FAWL and Cuban American Bar Association. She has served on the Workers' Compensation Rules Advisory Committee for the Florida Bar since 2007, and will serve as the Vice Chair in 2009-2010.
In addition to her full time practice, Barbara devotes much of her personal time giving back to the community. She is involved with the Dade County Bar Association E-Mentoring program, where Attorneys are assigned to mentor High School Students within the Miami-Dade County School system. Barbara is an active participant with Hands on Miami and regularly volunteers for various projects including reading to homeless children. Additionally, Barbara is a committee member and active participant with the American Cancer Society Charity Runner Program. Barbara raises money for the A.C.S. by running various marathons as a "Charity Runner".
